LWN Training Access and Diversity Data

LABOUR WOMEN'S NETWORK HAS A LONG TRADITION OF PROVIDING GOLD-STANDARD, SUBSIDISED TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR MEMBERS, AND PRIDE OURSELVES ON TRYING TO MAKE OUR TRAINING AS ACCESSIBLE AS POSSIBLE.

We only use accessible venues for our in-person training, and we make every effort to ensure disability inclusion in our training approach, both online and in the room.

Over the years we have run training and development events in venues around the country including Birmingham, Newcastle, Preston, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Barnsley, Cardiff, Stirling, Durham, Swindon, Leeds, Derby, Watford, London, Bristol, Nottingham and more, making sure locations have good transport links and venues are close to train stations.

Our in-house bursary scheme, Jean Black Bursary Fund, is open to any LWN member whether they are applying for online or in-person training.  Since the scheme started in September 2020, we have awarded 31 bursaries.  The bursary covers the full cost of the training (although we ask for a £5 contribution), and for our in-person training, it also provides £50 to help with any travel or care costs to attend the training.

All o
ur in-person courses are heavily subsidised by our membership subscriptions, as we recognise finance is often a barrier for women entering political life, so in addition to our bursary scheme, each place is heavily subsidised.

On all our training application forms, we ask for anonymous diversity information, so we can track how well (or not) we are performing.

Below are the diversity statistics from 2021 to present, for those who attended our training.  If you would prefer to see this in PDF form, please click here.
