Jean Black Bursary Fund

Jean Black was one of four pioneering women who founded Labour Women’s Network, serving for many years as its Treasurer. Sadly, Jean died aged just 57 in early 2019.

As a mark of our appreciation to Jean and desire to continue her drive to knock down barriers to women entering and excelling in public life, LWN is proud to host the Jean Black Bursary Fund.

All LWN training opportunities are subsidised by LWN members and our fundraising, this is specifically to reduce financial barriers to participants, including funding our Jean Black Bursary Fund.  However Covid-19 continues to hit LWN's training plans, finances and our ability to fundraise hard.

The Jean Black Bursary Fund is open to any LWN members who are low-waged, on benefits, or single parents, with successful applicants accessing our training at a fraction of the cost (normally £5).  Those who attend our weekend residential courses also receive an extra £50 towards travel or caring costs.
