Come along to our event:

Slay the Patriarchy, CLP by CLP! Saturday 23rd February, 2:30 - 3:30pm, Coalport Room, Telford International Centre

Grassroots Labour Party culture doesn’t work for women. From patronising comments to antisocial meeting times to poor gender balance, some local parties have a long way to go. LWN is writing a CLP Women’s Empowerment Charter, and we need your help. What are the issues you’d like to see fixed? What are the experiences that knocked you, and those that lifted you? What commitments could your CLP make to improve gender quality? What tools do you need to push them to do it?

Join LWN for an hour of practical, change-focussed discussion on how to slay the patriarchy in your local CLP. Get your ticket here.

Talk to us about our legendary training courses:

Spring Leadership School -16th and 17th March in Durham ** DEADLINE EXTENDED TILL MIDNIGHT 25TH FEB!**

Summer Leadership School -6th and 7th July-  South West

These are fast-paced, challenging courses, that aim to accelerate your political and personal development. You will leave upskilled, self-aware, empowered and ready to lead.

Alison Hume, Yorkshire & the Humber, said,

"Being awarded a bursary for the Winter School meant I could arrange care for my adult disabled son – costs which would have otherwise put the training weekend out of reach. The weekend was challenging and inspirational with a super high level of training. I was also able to network with like-minded women and, for the first time, invest precious time in my own political development. I can’t remember the last time I had a night away so the dinner and lovely hotel room were such a treat! I really felt embraced by the Labour sisterhood and the whole experience has given me a massive lift. Thank you LWN."

Claire Tighe, London, said,

"Thanks for all the help through Labour Women’s Network and the Jo Cox Leadership Programme. I ran and got elected as Vice Chair of Labour Party Irish Society and it was thanks in no small part to the support and the recent great training of LWN."

AWS update – your name needed!

Thank you to the overwhelming numbers of you who successfully passed our IAWS motion through your CLPs – click here for details.

Almost 40 different constituency parties gave our call to defend and extend All Women Shortlists their backing. Clearly you agreed that progress on women’s representation must be sustained, and that zero women Metro Mayors is simply too few!

However, we’re sorry to let you know we narrowly missed out in the Priority Ballot, so sadly we won’t get to discuss the necessary law changes at Women’s Conference.

We won’t let that stop us though!

We’re writing to Dawn Butler MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Women & Equalities, and Baroness Shami Chakrabarti, Shadow Attorney General, to call for them to meet with us and commit the next Labour manifesto to defend and extend positive action. We would like as many Labour women and feminist allies to sign the letter too! Will you?

Please sign here and share with your Labour friends and colleagues.

See you in Telford?
